Here you will find some of the more common code names and jargon you might encounter in the Samurai 7 fandom.

Sam7 / S7 — Unofficial nickname for the anime.

Katsu(-noji) – Official nickname for Katsushiro. (eg., Katsu/Kira)

Kira — Unofficial abbreviation of Kirara’s name. (eg. Katsu/Kira)

Shichi — Official nickname for Shichiroji, used by all the people in the anime.

Roji — Unofficial nickname by fangirls for Shichiroji, sometimes heard from Yukino but nobody else in the anime.

Hei — Official nickname for Heihachi. (eg. Hei-san)

K — Most often Kanbei, even if there are 3 other guys with names starting with K. (eg., K/S)

S — Shichiroji. (eg. K/S)

Q — Kyuzo, an abbreviation by Japanese fans. The letter Q sounds like “kyu”. (eg., K/Q)

9 — Kyuzo, an abbreviation by Japanese fans. In Japanese and Chinese, 9 is “kyuu”. (eg., K/9, 8/9)

8 — Heihachi, an abbreviation by Japanese and Chinese fans. In Japanese and Chinese, 8 is “hachi”. (eg., 9/8 or 98)

7 — Occasionally, Shichiroji (especially when matched with Heihachi). 7 is “shichi”. (7/8)

5 — Gorobei. 5 is “go”. (5/8)

Red Jacket — Unofficial nickname by English-speaking fans for Kyuzo, on account of the red trenchcoat.

Woodchuck — Unofficial nickname by English-speaking fans for Heihachi.

Gearhead — Unofficial nickname by English-speaking fans for Heihachi.

OC — Original character. Kyuzo is often paired with such girls.

“That (bleep) and (bleep)…” — Usually Kirara, by some angry fans. But be nice and don’t call her that.
